Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

You have successfully identified the main trends and provided a clear overview of the data. You covered all parts of the task by comparing the ownership of appliances with the time spent on housework. However, the report could be improved by providing more precise data points for the initial and final years to ensure accuracy. For example, stating 'over 70%' is good, but identifying specific peaks or plateaus more clearly would enhance the analysis. You have effectively selected key features and made relevant comparisons, which meets the requirements for a high band score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. You use cohesive devices such as 'Meanwhile', 'In contrast', and 'Similarly' to guide the reader through the data. However, the transition 'Whilst, consumption of time...' is slightly awkward as 'Whilst' is a conjunction that requires a clause, not a comma. Additionally, the paragraphing is appropriate, but the flow between sentences could be smoother by avoiding repetitive sentence structures. Overall, the information is presented in a coherent manner with a clear progression throughout the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'illustrates', 'declined', 'dramatically', and 'maintained'. There are some minor issues with word choice, such as 'wasted in housework' (which is subjective and not supported by the data) and 'household equipment' (which is slightly imprecise in this context). To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more sophisticated collocations and avoid repeating the same verbs. The vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, but lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'The washing machine started with 40% in 1920 occupying the top position but showed a slower growth'. There are some grammatical slips, such as 'families who owned domestic appliances increased' (the percentage increased, not the families) and '10hours' (missing a space). Punctuation is generally accurate, though there are some unnecessary spaces before periods. While the errors do not impede communication, you need to demonstrate more consistent control over complex structures to achieve a higher score.
