Student answer (Band 6.0)
The charts illustrate how many people own the electrical appliances and how much time they spent doing housework in households in a country between 1920 and 2019. Overall, the percentage of households with electrical appliances increased throughout the years. Whereas the number of hours of housework every week in a household decreased.

Furthermore, the percentage of vacuum cleaner grew steadily from 30% to 100 % in 2000 and remained unchanged at the last year of the given data.
The housework hours per week decreased in the past 100 years to 10%, Starting from 50% and going gradually downward trend to 1980 making it 15% and then marginally dropped to 10% over the following decade.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all parts of the task by identifying the main trends in appliance ownership and housework hours. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial. For instance, the description of the washing machine as 'the least appliance to use' is inaccurate based on the provided data, and the interpretation of the housework hours is slightly confusing, as the data represents hours per week rather than a percentage. While the main features are highlighted, the lack of precise data interpretation and some inaccuracies in reporting the trends limit the score. To improve, ensure that the data is read accurately and that comparisons between the two charts are more clearly articulated.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, body paragraphs for the appliances, and a final paragraph for housework hours. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Overall', 'On the other hand', and 'Furthermore', which help the flow of information. However, the progression of ideas is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing, such as 'making the least appliance to use in household'. The referencing is generally clear, but the transition between the appliance data and the housework data could be smoother to better integrate the two sets of information.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task, with attempts to use descriptive language like 'substantially', 'steadily', and 'marginally'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'represented the steady fluctuation' and 'making the least appliance to use'. These errors do not impede communication but show a lack of precision. To reach a higher band, focus on using more sophisticated collocations related to data description, such as 'witnessed a significant rise' or 'experienced a downward trend', rather than relying on simpler phrasings.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'how much time they spent' (tense inconsistency), 'reaching at 70%' (incorrect preposition), and 'at the last year' (incorrect preposition). Additionally, the sentence 'the housework hours per week decreased... to 10%' is confusingly structured. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct preposition usage will significantly improve the accuracy of the writing.
