Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response covers all parts of the task and provides a clear overview of the trends. You have successfully identified the main features, such as the rise in appliance ownership and the corresponding decline in housework hours. The data is well-selected, and comparisons are made between the different appliances and the time spent on chores. To reach a higher band, ensure that the data points are described with greater precision; for example, when mentioning the washing machine, you could more clearly contrast its fluctuations with the steady growth of the other appliances. Overall, the response is well-focused and meets the requirements of the task effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs focusing on specific data sets. There is a clear progression of ideas throughout the text. You use cohesive devices such as 'However', 'After that', and 'consequently' to link your points. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the use of referencing could be more varied. To improve, try to use a wider range of cohesive links to connect sentences more fluidly, ensuring that the relationship between the rise in appliances and the decrease in housework time is explicitly highlighted through better signposting.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'significant increase', 'rose sharply', and 'gradual decline'. However, there are some spelling errors ('vaccume', 'flactuated') and minor word choice issues ('in house hold' instead of 'in households'). To achieve a higher score, you should aim for more precise and varied vocabulary to describe trends, such as 'upward trajectory' or 'plateaued'. While your current vocabulary is sufficient to convey the information clearly, reducing spelling mistakes and incorporating more sophisticated collocations would enhance the overall quality of your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'Refrigerator & vaccume cleaner are the popular' (missing 'most'), 'It continued to grew' (incorrect verb form), and 'number of hour' (missing plural). Additionally, there are some punctuation issues, such as the use of '&' instead of 'and'. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and ensure that verb tenses are used consistently when describing past trends. Increasing the variety of complex sentence structures while maintaining accuracy will help you reach a higher band score.
