Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the charts, including the trends for appliances and the decline in housework hours. However, the overview is weak and lacks a clear summary of the most significant trends. The data reporting is sometimes inaccurate; for instance, the claim that the washing machine was at 40% in 1920 is not supported by the provided visual data, and the description of the vacuum cleaner's range is imprecise. While the response identifies the key categories, the lack of precision in data interpretation and the absence of a strong, synthesized overview prevent it from reaching a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or awkward, such as 'To commence with' and 'Probing ahead with remaining details'. The progression of ideas is sometimes disjointed, particularly in the transition between the appliance data and the housework hours. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the logical flow between sentences could be improved to ensure a more cohesive narrative. The paragraphing is present but does not always effectively group related information.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for a higher score. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'machine machine' (repetition), 'upsurged' (incorrect collocation), and 'reaming' (likely a misspelling of 'remaining'). The range of vocabulary is limited, relying on basic descriptors. To improve, you should focus on using more precise verbs to describe trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'plateaued', or 'declined steadily', and ensure that technical terms are used accurately in context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Issues include missing articles ('in household'), incorrect verb tenses ('that increase 100 percent'), and punctuation errors. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors—such as 'in year 1920 then it continuously decreased'—suggests a lack of control over complex structures. Improving sentence variety and focusing on subject-verb agreement and preposition usage would significantly enhance the quality of the writing.
