Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers all parts of the task by identifying the main trends in appliance ownership and housework time. You successfully highlight the overall increase in appliance ownership and the significant decline in time spent on chores. However, the data reporting is occasionally inaccurate. For instance, you state that time spent on chores was '50 mine' in 1920, whereas the chart indicates 50 hours. Additionally, the claim that washing machine ownership fluctuated is not fully supported by the steady upward trend shown in the data. To improve, ensure that data points are read precisely and that descriptions of trends align strictly with the visual evidence provided.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. The progression of ideas is generally clear, moving from general trends to specific data points. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Overall,' 'In 1960,' and 'By 2019' to guide the reader. However, the use of referencing is sometimes mechanical, and the transition between the appliance data and the housework data could be smoother. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two distinct datasets, which helps the reader follow the structure of your report.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'fluctuated,' 'considerably,' and 'ownership.' However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'fridge owning' instead of 'refrigerator ownership' and '50 mine' instead of '50 hours.' The use of 'percentage' as a noun to describe the appliance itself is also incorrect. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and ensure that units of measurement are correctly identified and used in the appropriate context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('The line chart illustrate,' 'refrigerator and vacuum has significantly risen') and incorrect verb forms ('time spent... has considerably fell'). Punctuation is generally functional, but the frequency of these grammatical slips occasionally distracts the reader. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of past participles (e.g., 'has fallen' instead of 'has fell').
