Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers all parts of the task by identifying the main trends in appliance ownership and housework hours. You successfully highlighted the key features, such as the rise in appliance ownership and the inverse decline in housework time. However, the report could be improved by providing more precise comparisons between the categories. For instance, noting that the rise in appliances correlates with the reduction in housework would strengthen the analysis. The overview is present but could be more integrated into the body paragraphs to ensure a more cohesive summary of the data trends.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and an overview. You use some cohesive devices like 'Meanwhile' and 'Overall' to guide the reader. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly repetitive. For example, the transition between the appliance data and the housework data could be smoother. Paragraphing is used appropriately, but the internal flow within paragraphs could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to connect the data points more fluidly rather than listing them sequentially.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'fluctuated', 'dramatically', and 'substantially' to describe trends. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'reached by 75%' (should be 'reached 75%') and 'the figure was decreased' (should be 'the figure decreased'). These errors do not impede communication, but they limit the precision of your writing. To reach a higher band, focus on using more sophisticated collocations and ensuring that verbs are used in the correct voice (active vs. passive).

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with verb tenses and passive voice construction, such as 'washing machine were used' (subject-verb agreement) and 'vacuum cleaner was rose' (incorrect tense/voice). Additionally, there are minor punctuation and capitalization issues, such as 'vacuum cleaner' not being capitalized at the start of a sentence. While these errors rarely impede communication, they indicate a need for more careful proofreading and a better grasp of sentence-level accuracy.
