Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all parts of the task, identifying the main trends in appliance ownership and the inverse relationship with housework hours. You successfully selected key data points to support your summary. However, the report could be improved by ensuring more precise data reporting; for instance, stating the vacuum cleaner reached 100% 'until 2000' is slightly confusing, as the graph shows it reached that level and stayed there. Additionally, the overview is clear, but the description of the washing machine trend is slightly cluttered with too many specific percentages, which makes the narrative flow less effectively than a more analytical approach would.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Lastly', 'Furthermore', and 'Although' to link ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'named as washing machine' or 'kept at the same position'. Paragraphing is appropriate, and there is a clear progression of ideas from the appliance trends to the impact on housework hours. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that the transition between sentences feels more natural and less repetitive.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'transformations', 'alleviation', and 'escalation'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and non-standard collocations, such as 'electrical equipments' (equipment is uncountable), 'declination' (decline is preferred), and 'upliftment' (a non-standard term in this context). While these errors do not impede communication, they highlight a need for more precise control over academic vocabulary. Focusing on correct word forms and standard collocations will help improve your score in this area.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, including missing articles ('the' popularity, 'the' washing machine), incorrect preposition usage ('reached at around'), and issues with subject-verb agreement or tense consistency. For example, 'kept at the same position' should be 'remained at the same level'. While the meaning is generally clear, these frequent minor errors prevent the response from reaching a higher band. To improve, pay closer attention to article usage and ensure that your verb tenses are consistent when describing historical data.
