Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all key features of the charts, including the trends for the three appliances and the decline in housework hours. You have successfully identified the main trends and made relevant comparisons, such as noting the inverse relationship between appliance ownership and time spent on housework. However, there are some minor inaccuracies in data reporting, such as the claim that the vacuum cleaner reached 100% in 2000, which is not clearly supported by the visual data provided. Additionally, the overview is slightly brief. To improve, ensure that data points are cited with greater precision and that the overview highlights the most significant trends more comprehensively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. The progression of ideas is generally clear, moving from the appliances to the housework hours. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally repetitive. For example, the transition between sentences in the second body paragraph could be smoother. There are also some minor issues with referencing, such as 'remained same in the next years', which lacks a clear subject. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear thematic focus would enhance the flow of the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'skyrocketed', 'fluctuation', and 'upward trend' appropriately. However, there are several spelling errors, such as 'electriconical', 'peakin', and 'macchine', which detract from the overall quality. Additionally, there are some awkward collocations, such as 'almost none' instead of 'negligible' or 'minimal'. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensure that spelling is accurate, as these errors can occasionally impede the reader's flow.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'The given line charts illustrates' (subject-verb agreement), '305 of households' (likely a typo for 30%), and 'them they declined' (redundant pronoun). Punctuation is also inconsistent in places. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and proofreading for minor slips. Increasing the variety of complex structures while maintaining accuracy will help you achieve a higher score in this criterion.
