Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to adequately report the main features of the data. While it mentions the general trend of appliance ownership and housework time, it lacks specific data points from the charts. The description is vague, using phrases like 'around 2000s' instead of referencing the specific percentages or trends shown for individual appliances (e.g., vacuum cleaners, washing machines, refrigerators). The analysis is superficial and does not make meaningful comparisons between the two sets of data provided. To improve, you must select key data points and describe the trends with precision, ensuring all parts of the prompt are addressed with supporting evidence.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response is organised into three short paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is disjointed. The use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes mechanical, such as 'Initially' and 'From tenure of'. The connection between the two charts is weak, making it difficult for the reader to follow the relationship between appliance ownership and the reduction in housework time. Paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the paragraphs lacks logical flow. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear focus would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'advanced', 'changed', and 'work'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'science invented some nre appliances' (typo and awkward phrasing) and 'From tenure of 1960 to 1980'. To reach a higher band, you should incorporate more precise vocabulary related to data description, such as 'fluctuated', 'witnessed a significant increase', or 'a downward trend'. Additionally, ensure you proofread for spelling errors like 'nre' and 'hoirs'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Examples include 'people have been more advanced with time', 'that made them spent more time', and 'making people doing less work'. These errors occasionally cause slight confusion for the reader. There are also issues with tense consistency and article usage. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence structures and ensuring subject-verb agreement. Practising the correct use of passive voice for describing trends in data would also be beneficial for this type of task.
