Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers all parts of the task by identifying the main trends in appliance ownership and housework hours. You have successfully selected key features, such as the rise in refrigerator ownership to 100% and the inverse relationship between appliance ownership and housework time. However, the report could be improved by making more direct comparisons between the categories rather than listing them sequentially. For instance, noting that the decline in housework hours correlates with the widespread adoption of appliances would provide a more analytical overview. The summary is accurate but could be more detailed in highlighting the most significant changes.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The response is logically organized, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs for the appliances and housework, and a summary. You use basic cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'Secondly', 'Furthermore', and 'To summarize' to guide the reader. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the paragraphing could be more sophisticated. For example, the transition between the appliance data and the housework data is abrupt. Using more varied linking phrases or referencing the relationship between the two charts would improve the overall cohesion and flow of the report.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the information clearly, using terms like 'ownership', 'steadily increased', and 'constant'. However, there are some repetitive structures and minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'during 1920' (should be 'in 1920') and 'observed a great rise' (which is slightly unnatural). To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise collocations and varied reporting verbs. The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the flexibility and precision required for higher bands.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('the ownership of electrical appliances were increased' should be 'was'), and awkward phrasing ('between several decades of 1920 and 2019'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some comma splices and minor errors in preposition usage. The majority of sentences are understandable, but the frequency of these small errors prevents a higher score.
