Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response covers the main features of the charts, but there are significant inaccuracies in the data reporting. For instance, you state the washing machine reached 75% in 2019, whereas the chart shows it reaching approximately 70%, and you incorrectly describe the vacuum cleaner starting at 30% in 1920 when the chart indicates a lower figure. Furthermore, the description of the housework hours is confusing and contradicts the visual data, which shows a steady decline from 1920 to 2019 rather than a rise followed by a decrease. While you identify the main trends, the lack of precision in data interpretation limits the score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, 'In Electrical appliances' is an awkward way to introduce a paragraph, and the transition 'Furthermore' is used repetitively. Some sentences lack logical flow, such as the final sentence, which attempts to summarise the relationship between the two charts but does so in a way that feels disconnected from the preceding analysis. The referencing is occasionally unclear, making the progression of ideas feel somewhat disjointed.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision required for a higher band. You rely on basic verbs like 'increased' and 'decreased' repeatedly. There are also errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'increased in lower point' and 'the hours was gradually rose'. These errors occasionally make the meaning slightly difficult to follow. To improve, you should focus on using a wider range of descriptive verbs and adverbs (e.g., 'surged', 'plummeted', 'fluctuated significantly') and ensure that your terminology for describing trends is used accurately.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'the hours was gradually rose'), incorrect preposition usage, and missing articles. For example, 'The Refrigerator increased in lower point' is grammatically incorrect. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to distract the reader. You should focus on mastering basic sentence construction and ensuring that your verb tenses are consistent when describing historical data.
