Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the charts, including the trends for appliances and the decline in housework hours. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial and lacks precision. For example, the description of the refrigerator's growth is confusingly phrased ('grown significantly of cuts the Vaccum cleaner'), and the data points are not always clearly or accurately reported. While the overall trend is identified, the comparison between the categories is not fully developed, and the lack of clear data points makes it difficult for the reader to follow the specific changes over the 99-year period. More attention to detail regarding the specific percentages and years would improve the score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the flow of ideas is often disjointed. The use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes misused, such as the abrupt transition 'While, washing machine journey begin'. The referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult to track which appliance is being discussed. The paragraphing is present but does not effectively separate the overview from the detailed analysis, leading to a somewhat cluttered structure. To improve, focus on using a wider range of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, logical focus.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, with several spelling errors (e.g., 'Vaccum', 'flucations', 'stablized'). The range of vocabulary is basic, and there is a lack of precision in describing trends. Phrases like 'surged rapidly' and 'declined gradually' are used, but they are often undermined by awkward phrasing or incorrect word choices, such as 'journey begin' or 'cuts the Vaccum cleaner'. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise collocations for describing data, such as 'witnessed a steady increase' or 'reached a plateau'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement, missing articles, and incorrect punctuation. Sentence structures are often fragmented or run-on, which hinders readability. For instance, 'Refrigerator was not in demand in 1920 the percentage was at 0' lacks necessary punctuation or conjunctions. While there is an attempt at complex sentences, they are often faulty, leading to confusion. Improving control over basic sentence construction and punctuation is essential before attempting more complex structures. Focus on ensuring each sentence has a clear subject and verb.
