Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response covers all key features of the charts, including the trends for the three appliances and the decline in housework hours. You have successfully identified the main trends and made relevant comparisons. However, the overview is slightly weak; while it mentions the general increase in appliances and decrease in hours, it could be more analytical. The description of the washing machine trend is slightly inaccurate regarding the 1960-1980 period, as the data shows a more complex fluctuation. To reach a higher band, ensure that your overview highlights the most significant relationships between the two datasets, such as the inverse correlation between appliance ownership and time spent on housework.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Overall', 'In term of', and 'Furthermore', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'While, considering washing machine' and 'The individuals spent time on home task were'. The referencing is sometimes unclear, and the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to connect the data points more fluidly. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two different types of data.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'ownership', 'percentages', and 'steady increased'. However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'transfer of ownerships' instead of 'ownership levels', and 'it was not change' instead of 'it remained unchanged'. The use of 'home task' is also slightly unnatural in this context. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and ensuring that your word forms (e.g., 'increase' vs 'increased') are used correctly in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'how much time spent each household' (word order), 'it remain constant' (subject-verb agreement), and 'the percentage start increased' (verb form). Additionally, punctuation errors, such as missing commas after introductory phrases and the misuse of parentheses, are present. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage will significantly improve your accuracy.
