Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the task achievement score. Furthermore, the content is incomplete; the essay ends abruptly mid-sentence ('Fur'), failing to address the second chart regarding the time spent on housework. While the overview attempts to identify trends, the description of the data is repetitive and lacks precision. The failure to cover all parts of the prompt and the insufficient length mean the response does not fully address the task requirements. To improve, ensure all data sets are described and the response is fully developed to meet the length constraint.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay lacks a clear logical progression. While there is an attempt at paragraphing, the abrupt ending prevents a coherent structure. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inaccurate, such as 'While, vacuum cleaner has gradually increased' and 'followed by then refrigerator has next these years'. These transitions are awkward and do not effectively link ideas. The referencing is also unclear at times, making it difficult for the reader to follow the intended comparison between the different appliances. Improved use of linking words and a more structured approach to grouping data would enhance the flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying heavily on basic verbs like 'increased' and 'grew'. There are noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'constant in next both years' and 'constant stable'. These errors occasionally cause some difficulty for the reader. The range of vocabulary is not sufficient to demonstrate flexibility or precision in describing trends. To reach a higher band, you should incorporate a wider variety of verbs and adverbs to describe changes (e.g., 'fluctuated', 'surged', 'steadily') and ensure accurate usage of terminology related to graphs and data.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that impede clarity. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('refrigerator has gradually grew'), tense usage ('has constant stable'), and article usage ('in household in one country'). The sentence structures are mostly simple or contain errors when attempting complex forms. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary commas and missing spaces. The lack of control over basic grammar significantly affects the readability of the text. Focusing on consistent tense usage and subject-verb agreement is essential for improvement.
