The charts illustrates the changes in ownership of electrical appliances and the time these spent performing housework in properties in one country from between 1920 and 2019.
Overall, the percentage of households increased throughout the 99-years period, whereas the number of weekly hours doing housework decreased significantly during the mentioned years.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers the main features of the charts, identifying the general trends of increasing appliance ownership and decreasing housework hours. However, the analysis is slightly hampered by factual inaccuracies, such as stating the refrigerator started at 0% in 1920, whereas the chart clearly shows it starting at a higher percentage. Additionally, the reference to 'months' is incorrect as the data spans decades. While the key trends are identified, the lack of precision in interpreting the data points and the misinterpretation of the time scale prevent this from reaching a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs focusing on the two distinct datasets. Cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'By contrast', and 'Regarding' are used to guide the reader. However, the flow is occasionally disrupted by awkward phrasing and minor errors in referencing, such as 'oscillating its numbers throughout the months'. While the overall progression is clear, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical, and the paragraphing could be more effectively linked to the comparative nature of the task.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task, with attempts to use descriptive verbs like 'oscillating' and 'diminishing'. However, there are noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'the time these spent performing housework' (should be 'time spent on housework') and 'por week' (a spelling error). The vocabulary is generally functional but lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands. Some terms are repeated, and the misuse of 'months' instead of 'decades' indicates a lack of precision in lexical control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('The charts illustrates') and incorrect preposition usage ('at the beginning with a 0%'). Tense usage is generally consistent, but the sentence structure is sometimes repetitive. While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Punctuation is generally acceptable, but the overall control of complex structures is inconsistent.
