Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response identifies the main trends, such as the increase in appliance ownership and the decrease in housework hours. However, the analysis is superficial. The student fails to provide specific data points from the charts to support the generalisations, which is a requirement for Task 1. Phrases like 'fewest percentages' and 'remarkably same' are too vague. To improve, you must include specific figures (e.g., percentages or years) to illustrate the trends described. The overview is present but lacks the necessary detail to fully satisfy the requirements of the task.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay lacks clear paragraphing, appearing as a single block of text. While there is an attempt at an introduction and an overview, the body paragraphs are not clearly separated. Cohesive devices are used, but they are often misused or awkward, such as 'Let's driven into details' and 'in the end of frame'. The logical progression is hindered by these structural issues and the lack of clear transitions between the two charts. Improving the use of linking words and organizing the response into distinct paragraphs would significantly enhance the flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. Words like 'percentages' and 'hours' are used frequently without variation. There are also several errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'table chart' (it is a line graph/chart), 'on the other hand' (used incorrectly as a transition), and 'spended' (incorrect past tense form). The range of vocabulary is insufficient to convey the information with precision. To reach a higher band, you should incorporate more varied terminology related to data description, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', or 'a significant decline'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Examples include 'the table chart illustrates', 'Let's driven into', 'the percentages shoe', and 'weekly spended hours'. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the punctuation is inconsistent, particularly with missing spaces after periods. The verb tenses are often incorrect or inconsistent, which affects the clarity of the report. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and ensuring that verb forms are used correctly in the past tense when describing historical data.
