Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

You have successfully identified the main trends and made relevant comparisons between the appliances and the housework hours. However, the report suffers from significant inaccuracies in data reporting. For instance, you state that housework hours reached '2oo hours' in 1960, which is a misreading of the chart, and you incorrectly claim housework reached '10%' in 2019, whereas the chart shows 10 hours. Furthermore, the description of the washing machine trend is slightly disjointed. To improve, ensure you carefully verify the data points against the visual information provided and focus on grouping the information more logically to highlight the key features rather than listing every minor fluctuation.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the flow of ideas is often hindered by mechanical and repetitive cohesive devices. Phrases like 'in the other hands' are used incorrectly, and the transition between sentences is often abrupt. The use of punctuation is also problematic, with many sentences ending prematurely or being fragmented (e.g., '...in 1940. after that only 10% more...'). To reach a higher band, you should work on using a wider range of linking words more naturally and ensure that your sentences are complete and logically connected to one another.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but there are frequent spelling errors such as 'wiith', 'refrigirater', 'vacum', and 'sttart'. These errors are noticeable and detract from the professional tone required for an Academic Task 1 report. While you attempt to use descriptive verbs like 'climbed' and 'declined', the range is somewhat limited. To improve, focus on accuracy in spelling and try to incorporate more precise vocabulary related to trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'plateaued', or 'a significant surge', to demonstrate a more sophisticated command of the language.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a high frequency of grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'the share... was trend up'), incorrect verb tenses, and improper sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or lack necessary articles. While you attempt some complex structures, they are often faulty. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically ensuring that every sentence has a clear subject and a correctly conjugated verb. Reviewing the use of prepositions and articles will also significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
