Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers all key features of the charts, including the trends for appliance ownership and the decline in housework hours. You successfully identified the main trends and made relevant comparisons. However, the report contains some inaccuracies in data interpretation. For example, you state that the refrigerator reached 100% in 1980, but the chart shows it reaching this level earlier, and you mention the vacuum cleaner reached 100% in 2000, which is not clearly supported by the provided visual data. To improve, ensure that data points are read with greater precision and that comparisons between the two charts are more explicitly linked to the overall trend of time-saving.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. The progression of ideas is generally clear, and you use cohesive devices such as 'Additionally', 'Furthermore', and 'whereas' to link information. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally confusing, such as in the third paragraph where the comparison between the refrigerator and washing machines is somewhat disjointed. Improving the flow between sentences and ensuring that pronouns clearly refer back to their antecedents would enhance the overall coherence of the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'surged', 'climbed', 'remained constant', and 'steadily'. However, there are some issues with word choice and collocation. For instance, 'percentage of refrigerator' is imprecise; it should be 'percentage of households owning a refrigerator'. Additionally, phrases like 'reached to 100 percent' are grammatically incorrect, as 'reach' does not take a preposition. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise terminology and ensuring that collocations are natural and accurate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as missing articles ('the percentage of refrigerator'), incorrect preposition usage ('reached to'), and awkward phrasing ('as compare to'). There are also minor punctuation issues. While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles and prepositions when describing statistical data.
