The charts below show the changes in ownership of electrical appliances and amount of time spent doing housework in households in one country between 1920 and 2019.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The chart visualises the changes in ownership of electrical appliances and amount of time spent doing housework in households in one country between 1920 and 2019.

The percentage of households having washing machines reached 100% in 1980 and has been the same until 2019. 100% of households owned vacuum cleaner by 2000. The highest percentage of households owning washing machine is approximately 73% in 2019. The number of hours of housework per week was the maximum at 50 in 1920 and has drastically declined to approximately 10 by 2019.

In 1920, no households owned a refrigerator. By 1940, this figure made a huge jump to around 55% which further increased to around 90% by 1960. By 1980, all the households owned a refrigerator and this figure remained the same until 2019. Almost 40% of households owned a washing machine in 1920, which rose to 60% by 1940 and then to 70% by 1960. Then this figure slightly declined to around 65% by 1980. By 2000, it surged back to 70% and finally sits at around 73% by 2019. 30% of households owned a vacuum cleaner in 1920. This figure increased to 50% by 1940, then further increased to 70% by 1960. By 1980, this figure rose to 90% and by 2000, all the households owned a vacuum cleaner. This figure remains the same until 2019.

The number of hours of housework per week was the highest at 50 in 1920. It decreased to around 35 by 1940 and further declined to 20 by 1960. Number of hours reached around 15 by 1980 and remained constant until 2000 after which it further declined to approximately 10 by 2019.
