Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the charts, but the analysis is somewhat superficial. While you identify the trends for the appliances and the decline in housework hours, the comparison between the two sets of data is underdeveloped. You mention that technology leads to a reduction in housework, but you do not explicitly link specific data points or time periods to support this correlation effectively. To improve, ensure you provide a more detailed overview of the data, including specific percentages or years, and clearly highlight the inverse relationship between appliance ownership and time spent on housework.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes mechanical. Phrases like 'In the first chart' and 'secondly' are used, but the transitions between sentences and ideas are often abrupt. The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the final paragraph where the connection between the charts could be more smoothly integrated. To achieve a higher band, focus on using a wider range of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, unified focus.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. You rely on repetitive phrasing, such as 'increase in usage' and 'decline trend'. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'households relations with the electrical appliance' and 'number per hours'. While the meaning is generally clear, the range of vocabulary is limited, and there is little evidence of less common or more sophisticated lexical items. Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise terms for describing trends and data would significantly improve your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede readability. Examples include 'which showing the increase', 'three electrical driven appliances are mentioned which are... which is are demonstrating', and 'the graph of number per hours'. These errors involve subject-verb agreement, relative clauses, and word order. While you attempt some complex sentence structures, they are often faulty. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like missing articles and incorrect verb forms before attempting more complex structures.
