Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to cover the main features of the charts, but the analysis is inconsistent and contains factual inaccuracies. For example, the text describes 'time spent on refrigerator' as a category, whereas the chart refers to the percentage of households owning appliances. The summary of trends is somewhat confusing, and the data points mentioned are not always clearly linked to the visual information provided. While the main features are identified, the lack of precision in reporting the data and the misinterpretation of the chart categories prevent a higher score. To improve, ensure you clearly distinguish between ownership percentages and time spent on housework.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The use of cohesive devices is limited and often mechanical, such as 'after analusing the given data' and 'further more'. There are issues with sentence structure that hinder the flow of ideas, particularly in the final paragraph where the sentence ends abruptly ('...have'). Referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison between the different appliances. Improved use of linking words and better sentence construction would help create a more coherent response.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, with frequent spelling errors such as 'electeical', 'analusing', 'refrigerater', 'vaccum', and 'washin mashine'. These errors are frequent and occasionally impede communication. The range of vocabulary is basic, and there is little attempt to use more sophisticated or precise terminology to describe trends (e.g., using 'increase' repeatedly instead of varied verbs like 'soared', 'climbed', or 'fluctuated'). To improve, focus on learning the correct spelling of common task-related words and expanding your range of trend-describing vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('vacuum cleaner and the refrigerator had increase'), article usage, and sentence fragments. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after periods and commas. The range of grammatical structures is limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences with some errors in tense usage. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and punctuation significantly impacts the quality of the writing. Focusing on proofreading for basic sentence structure and punctuation would be beneficial.
