Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

You have successfully identified the main trends and provided a clear overview of the data. You covered all three appliances and the housework hours, making relevant comparisons. However, there are some inaccuracies in your interpretation of the data; for instance, you stated the washing machine's value 'dropped' until 2019, whereas the graph shows it fluctuating and ending higher than it started. Additionally, some descriptions are slightly imprecise, such as describing the refrigerator's growth as 'null' in 1920 when the graph shows a clear starting percentage. To improve, ensure you double-check the data points against the visual information to avoid factual errors.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response is organised into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices like 'Overall', 'Despite this', and 'After that' to link sentences. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing and repetitive sentence structures. Some transitions feel mechanical, and the connection between the appliances and the housework hours could be more explicitly linked to show a cause-and-effect relationship. Improving the variety of cohesive devices and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would elevate the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but there are several instances of imprecise word choice and spelling errors. For example, you used 'custody' instead of 'ownership' and 'gadget' is a bit informal for an academic report. There are also spelling mistakes like 'decreses' and 'vacume'. While you attempt to use descriptive words like 'dramatically' and 'fluctuated', the overall range is somewhat limited. To achieve a higher band, focus on using more precise academic collocations and ensure you proofread for spelling errors, which currently detract from the professional tone of the report.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'use refrigerator... increases'), incorrect verb tenses (e.g., 'it start from'), and missing articles. Some sentences are also quite clunky, such as 'it was 40% and it started fluctuated throughout the period remain around 70%'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to affect the clarity of your writing. Focusing on basic sentence construction and consistent verb tense usage will help improve your accuracy.
