Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers all key features of the graph, including the trends for appliances and housework hours. However, the introduction is problematic; it copies the prompt's instructions rather than paraphrasing the graph's content. While the main features are identified, the reporting is somewhat mechanical, listing data points rather than synthesising the information into a clear, analytical overview. The overview provided at the end is functional but lacks the sophistication required for higher bands. To improve, focus on grouping data logically and providing a more integrated summary of the overall trends rather than just listing numbers.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the information. However, the use of cohesive devices is often repetitive or slightly unnatural, such as the frequent use of 'Moreover' and 'Further more'. The progression of ideas is sometimes hindered by the way data is presented; the transition between the different appliances could be smoother. While the overall arrangement is coherent, the mechanical nature of the linking words and the lack of varied referencing mean that the flow is not always fluid.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'calibrated in percentage' (should be 'measured in percentages') and 'vacuum cleaner sector' (which is unnecessary). The student relies on basic verbs like 'grow', 'reach', and 'rise' repeatedly. To achieve a higher band, you should incorporate more precise reporting verbs and nouns, such as 'fluctuated', 'peaked', 'a significant decline', or 'a steady upward trend', to demonstrate a wider range of lexical control.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'The line graph demonstrate', 'refrigerator starts form'), missing articles, and incorrect tense usage (e.g., 'it grow up', 'it reach'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing around commas and periods. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to lower the score. Focusing on basic subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage would significantly improve the clarity of your writing.
