Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to address the task but fails to provide a clear overview or effectively highlight the main trends. The description of the data is fragmented and lacks analytical depth. For instance, the statement 'I have think that percentage of households... was very low' is informal and lacks the objective tone required for Academic Task 1. Furthermore, the data points mentioned are often vague or inaccurate (e.g., claiming washing machine ownership was 40% in 1920, which is not supported by the provided visual). The report lacks a cohesive summary of the relationship between appliance ownership and the decline in housework hours, which is a key feature of the prompt.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay lacks logical progression and clear paragraphing. The use of cohesive devices is repetitive and mechanical, with almost every sentence beginning with 'By coming at...' or 'By understanding...'. This creates a very unnatural flow. There is no clear structure separating the overview from the detailed data analysis. Referencing is often unclear, and the transition between the two charts is abrupt. To improve, you should use a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'In contrast,' 'Furthermore,' 'Consequently') and structure your response into clear paragraphs: an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs focusing on specific data points.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. Phrases like 'very high' and 'very low' are used repeatedly, which does not demonstrate the range required for higher bands. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'demonstrates the alterations' (instead of 'illustrates the changes') and 'amount of time spent during the house work' (instead of 'time spent on housework'). The language is generally simple and lacks the precision needed to describe trends in data effectively. You should aim to use more specific verbs and adjectives to describe trends, such as 'fluctuated,' 'remained stable,' or 'witnessed a significant increase.'

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('The bar charts... demonstrates'), tense usage ('it gone on decreasing'), and awkward phrasing ('I have think that'). The sentence structures are mostly simple or repetitive, with very few attempts at complex sentences. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring that subjects and verbs agree, and using correct past tense forms for historical data. You should also practice combining simple sentences into more complex ones using relative clauses or subordinating conjunctions.
