Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response covers the main features of the charts, identifying the trends for appliance ownership and the decline in housework hours. However, the analysis is somewhat mechanical and lacks a clear overview or synthesis of the relationship between the two charts. While the data points are generally accurate, the description is repetitive and lacks the analytical depth required for a higher band. For instance, stating 'the usage of washing machine increase and decrease by time' is vague and does not accurately reflect the trends shown in the data. To improve, you should group information more logically and provide a clear summary statement that highlights the inverse relationship between appliance ownership and housework time.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is disjointed. The use of cohesive devices is very limited and often repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'the' or 'at 2019'. There is a lack of linking words to connect the two charts or to contrast the trends effectively. The referencing is sometimes unclear, and the transition between the description of the appliances and the housework hours is abrupt. Improving the use of transition signals (e.g., 'consequently', 'in contrast', 'furthermore') would help the reader follow the logic of your argument more easily.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, relying heavily on the words provided in the prompt. There are several instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'the second one is demonstrates' and 'the hours decrease by time'. You rely on simple verbs like 'increase', 'decrease', and 'started', which limits your ability to describe trends with precision. To reach a higher band, you should incorporate a wider range of vocabulary related to data description, such as 'fluctuated', 'peaked', 'gradual decline', or 'significant growth', and ensure that your word choices are grammatically appropriate for the context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are issues with article usage ('the percentage of of household'), subject-verb agreement ('the second one is demonstrates'), and tense consistency ('did showed'). Sentence structures are mostly simple, and there is a lack of complex sentence forms. Many sentences are fragmented or contain redundant words, such as 'and and becomes'. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring correct verb tenses, and reducing the number of minor errors that occur throughout the text.
