Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the charts, but it is penalized for failing to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words. While you identified the key trends, the analysis is somewhat mechanical and lacks a clear, cohesive overview of the relationship between appliance ownership and the reduction in housework time. The data reporting is generally accurate, but the under-length nature of the response limits the depth of the analysis, preventing a higher score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the information. You use basic cohesive devices like 'Moreover', 'Furthermore', and 'Additionally' to link your points. However, the transitions between sentences can feel repetitive and slightly mechanical. To improve, try to vary your linking phrases and ensure that the connection between the rise in appliance ownership and the decline in housework hours is more explicitly stated to create a more fluid narrative.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You rely on simple verbs like 'tracks', 'is', and 'remains'. There are also some minor errors in word choice, such as 'amount devoted on doing housework' (should be 'time spent on housework') and 'vacum' (spelling error). To reach a higher band, incorporate more sophisticated collocations and precise terminology related to trends, such as 'a significant upward trajectory' or 'a steady decline'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. For example, 'refrigerator was most common' lacks an article, and 'in 2000 number of hours' is missing a determiner. Additionally, there are tense inconsistencies, such as 'it falls' instead of 'it fell'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles.
