Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response identifies the main trends and makes some comparisons, but the accuracy of the data reporting is inconsistent. For instance, the claim that washing machine ownership was 'high in demand' in 1920 contradicts the visual data, which shows it at zero. Additionally, the description of the trends is often confusing, such as the statement that 'washing machine remain the same in upcoming 60 years' while the chart shows a clear upward trajectory. While the key features are addressed, the lack of precision in interpreting the data and the failure to clearly distinguish between the three appliances throughout the period limit the score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical flow is frequently interrupted by awkward phrasing and unclear referencing. While some cohesive devices are used, such as 'Furthermore', 'Moreover', and 'Nevertheless', they are often applied in ways that do not accurately reflect the relationship between the ideas. The progression of information is somewhat disjointed, making it difficult for the reader to follow the timeline of changes. The use of referencing is also problematic, as it is often unclear which appliance is being referred to in specific sentences.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and contains several errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'bargraphs', 'electirc', 'vaccum', and 'refrigerato'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to convey the information with precision. Phrases like 'rapid shifting growing of refrigerated' are non-standard and impede clarity. To improve, you should focus on using more precise terminology for describing trends, such as 'fluctuate', 'plateau', or 'significant increase', and ensure that the names of the appliances are spelled correctly and used consistently throughout the text.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response relies on a mix of simple and complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally hinder communication. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'ownership of refrigerator were'), incorrect tense usage, and awkward sentence construction (e.g., 'demand of washing machine remain the same'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, and there are several instances of missing articles or incorrect word forms. While the meaning is generally discernible, the high frequency of errors prevents the response from reaching a higher band score.
