Student answer (Band 6.0)
The chart illustrates the change in ownerships of electrical appliances (Washing machine, Refrigerator and Vacuum cleaner). However affecting the hours spending on housework(per week) in households of a particular country, from the year [redacted phone].
Overall, there was a diminishing rate in the housework hours over the period of 99 years. Due to the increase in usage of electrical appliances, mostly the vacuum cleaner and Refrigerator.
Initially, in the year 1920, people used to spend 50 hours for the house work with 0% use of refrigerator and 30% and 40% use of washing machine and vacuum cleaner. After 2 decades the work hours declined to almost 35%, beacuse of the usage of refrigerator got incresed by 55%.
Till 2019 the weekly hours for housework reached its minimum to only 10 beacuse of avilability of electrical appliances in almost every household. By 1980 and 2020 the refrigerator and vacuum cleaner reached at 100% users with a massive and constant growth rate. The usage of Washing machine after a small decline([redacted phone]) again started increasing and reaching to 75% users.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers the main trends and provides relevant data points. However, the overview is slightly weak; it mentions a 'diminishing rate' but fails to clearly link the inverse relationship between appliance ownership and housework hours as a primary feature. The data reporting is generally accurate, but there are some inaccuracies in interpretation, such as stating housework hours declined to '35%' (the chart shows hours, not percentages). Additionally, the mention of '2020' is an error, as the data ends in 2019. The response addresses all parts of the prompt but lacks the precision required for a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear attempt to use cohesive devices. However, the flow is occasionally disrupted by awkward phrasing, such as the opening sentence which is grammatically fragmented. The use of cohesive devices like 'Initially', 'After 2 decades', and 'Till 2019' helps to sequence the information chronologically. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the overview from the detailed body paragraphs. To improve, ensure that transitions between sentences are smoother and avoid repetitive sentence structures.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the student to describe trends (e.g., 'diminishing rate', 'constant growth rate'). However, there are several spelling errors ('beacuse', 'incresed', 'avilability') and some imprecise word choices, such as 'ownerships' (should be 'ownership') and 'users' (when referring to appliance percentages). While the range is sufficient to convey the main points, the errors in spelling and word formation are noticeable and occasionally distract the reader. More precise terminology regarding data trends would elevate the score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement and preposition usage (e.g., 'reached at 100% users', 'spending on housework'). Punctuation is generally functional, but the opening sentence is a fragment rather than a complete sentence. While the meaning is usually clear, the frequency of errors in basic grammar and spelling prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and article usage would be beneficial.
