Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all key features of the charts, including the trends for appliances and the decline in housework hours. You have successfully identified the main trends and made relevant comparisons. However, the description of the data is occasionally imprecise. For example, stating that the number of hours started at '50% of hours' is confusing, as the chart likely refers to hours per week, not a percentage. Additionally, the phrasing 'amount of refrigerator' is inaccurate; 'percentage of households owning a refrigerator' would be more precise. To improve, ensure that units of measurement are clearly defined and that you distinguish between the percentage of households and the actual number of hours.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. You use cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'Looking at the details', and 'Furthermore' to guide the reader through the information. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'in vacuum cleaner followed a same trend'. The progression of ideas is generally logical, but the connection between the data points could be smoother. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear thematic focus will help elevate your score in this criterion.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the main trends, using terms like 'upward trend', 'fluctuation', 'climbed sharply', and 'plunged'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'amount of refrigerator' instead of 'proportion of households with a refrigerator' and 'number of hours of household work' being slightly repetitive. There are also minor errors in phrasing, such as 'in vacuum cleaner followed a same trend'. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing when describing data trends.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors that persist throughout the text. Examples include 'the number of hours spend for housework' (should be 'spent'), 'top reach' (should be 'to reach'), and 'it end at' (should be 'it ended at'). These errors are noticeable but do not significantly impede communication. To improve, pay closer attention to verb tenses, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of prepositions. Increasing the variety of complex structures while maintaining accuracy will also help improve your score.
