Student answer (Band 5.0)
The line graph illustrates the alteration in ownership of electrical appliances and total span doing household chores in a particular country between 1920 and 2019.However,In 1920 the usage of appliances was at normal percentage and the use of washing machine and vacuum cleaner was fixed till 1960 but it was a slight rise in the percentage of use of Refrigerator and from 1980 to 2019 the use of appliances only increased and did not fall .Further the number of hours of chores per week ,per household stared from 1920 it was 50 hours per week which was very normal in 1940 it has a slight change and the most significant change was in 1960 and afterwards it did not increased it only falls from my prespective the hours energy was used was too much but with the passage of time the new modern appliances replace the antique ones and are less time and energy consuming that's why the number of hours decreased.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to cover the main trends, but it lacks a clear overview and fails to accurately report the data. For instance, the description of appliance ownership as 'normal' is vague and does not reflect the specific percentages shown in the chart. Furthermore, the analysis of the housework hours is somewhat confused, particularly the claim that the hours 'did not increase' after 1960, which ignores the specific data points. The inclusion of personal opinion ('from my perspective') is inappropriate for an Academic Task 1 report, which should remain objective. To improve, focus on identifying the most significant trends and supporting them with accurate data points rather than subjective commentary.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response is written as a single, dense paragraph, which makes it difficult to follow. There is a lack of logical progression between the discussion of appliances and the discussion of housework hours. Cohesive devices are either missing or used incorrectly, such as the abrupt transition 'However,In 1920'. The lack of paragraphing and the absence of clear signposting words (e.g., 'In contrast', 'Furthermore', 'Consequently') hinder the flow of information. To improve, you should structure your report into clear paragraphs: an introduction, an overview of the main trends, and two body paragraphs detailing specific data comparisons.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. Phrases like 'normal percentage' and 'fixed till' are imprecise and do not demonstrate the range required for a higher band. There are also issues with word choice, such as using 'alteration' when 'changes' or 'trends' would be more appropriate, and 'antique' to describe older appliances, which is not the most suitable term in this context. The vocabulary is sufficient to convey the basic message, but it lacks the precision and variety needed to describe statistical data effectively. Focus on learning collocations related to trends, such as 'a steady increase' or 'a significant decline'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are issues with sentence structure, such as run-on sentences and missing punctuation (e.g., '1920 it was 50 hours per week which was very normal in 1940 it has a slight change'). Subject-verb agreement and tense consistency are also problematic, such as 'it only falls' instead of 'it fell'. The range of structures is limited, relying mostly on simple sentences. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring proper punctuation, and using a wider variety of complex structures to link ideas more effectively.
