Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the charts, identifying the trends for appliance ownership and housework hours. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial. While you mention the 0% to 100% rise for refrigerators, the description of the washing machine and vacuum cleaner trends is incomplete, and the comparison between the two datasets is weak. To reach a higher band, you should synthesize the data more effectively by highlighting the inverse relationship between the rise in appliance ownership and the decline in housework hours, rather than simply listing figures chronologically. The overview is also very brief and lacks a clear summary of the overall trend.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The response is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices like 'To begin with', 'Furthermore', and 'Overall'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical and repetitive. The progression of ideas within paragraphs is occasionally disjointed, particularly in the third paragraph where the transition between different time periods feels abrupt. To improve, try to vary your linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear thematic focus that flows logically into the next.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. You rely on basic verbs like 'used', 'rose', and 'spent'. There are also some errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'pecentage of refrigerator used' (should be 'percentage of households with refrigerators') and 'number of hours slightly fall' (should be 'number of hours slightly fell'). To achieve a higher score, incorporate more precise academic vocabulary related to trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'plummeted', 'gradual decline', or 'significant growth', and ensure your nouns and verbs agree in number.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally hinder readability. Examples include 'it was rapidly rose' (incorrect passive/active construction), 'percent of washing machine... were at 40%' (subject-verb agreement error), and 'the most of household' (article error). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and avoiding the unnecessary use of the passive voice when the active voice is more natural and accurate.
