Student answer (Band 6.0)
The given charts illustrates the information on the alteration in ownership of electrical equipments and the number of time consumed while doing household chores in a country in the time period of 1920 to 2019.
Overall, all appliance showed upward trend. But refrigerator peaked significantly from zero. Same trend witnessed in the growth of vacuum cleaner. However, washing machine rose gradually. The numbers of hours working in house per week declined steadily in whole given time period.
At a first glance, it is seen that in year 1920 refrigerator was the least preferred appliance and gained dramatic growth 100% until 1980 and remain plateaued after that to year 2019. Similarly, vacuum cleaner hold 30% in year 1920 and rose up to 100% as well and showed steady trend. Only washing machine depicted fluctuations in given time period, where 40% in 1920 and rose gradually to just above 70% in year 2019.
The numbers of hours of household daily tasks were stood at the proportion of 50, then slightly dropped to between 40% and 30% in 1940. Again faced a decline in year 1960 at 20%. After that followed a gradual trend in between the proportion of 20 and 10 until year 2019.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all parts of the task by identifying the main trends for both appliance ownership and housework hours. You successfully highlighted the key features, such as the refrigerator's dramatic growth and the steady decline in housework time. However, the analysis is slightly hampered by some inaccuracies in data interpretation; for instance, you describe the refrigerator reaching 100% by 1980, whereas the chart shows it reaching this point closer to 2000. Additionally, the description of the housework hours is a bit imprecise, as you refer to the units as 'proportion' rather than 'hours per week'. To reach a higher band, ensure that data points are read with greater precision and that the units of measurement are correctly identified.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into four paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Overall', 'At a first glance', and 'Similarly', to link your points. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly unnatural. For example, 'At a first glance' is not typically used in this context for a data report. Furthermore, the transition between the appliance data and the housework data could be smoother. While the paragraphing is appropriate, the internal cohesion within paragraphs could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to connect sentences more fluidly.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'upward trend', 'plateaued', 'fluctuations', and 'depicted'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'number of time consumed' (should be 'amount of time spent') and 'the numbers of hours of household daily tasks were stood at' (which is grammatically incorrect and uses imprecise terminology). While you attempt to use less common vocabulary, the inaccuracies in word choice occasionally draw attention. Focusing on more natural collocations and precise terminology related to data description will help improve your score in this area.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors throughout the text, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('The given charts illustrates', 'all appliance showed', 'vacuum cleaner hold') and incorrect preposition usage. Some sentences are also structurally awkward, such as 'The numbers of hours of household daily tasks were stood at the proportion of 50'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to impact the overall fluency of the writing. To improve, focus on basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that your sentence structures are grammatically sound.
