Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to cover the main features, but the analysis is superficial and lacks a clear overview. The data reporting is often inaccurate or confusing, such as stating that hours spent on housework were '59 percent' (the chart shows hours, not percentages). The description of appliance trends is repetitive and lacks a cohesive comparison between the two charts. Key features, such as the inverse relationship between the rise of appliances and the decline in housework hours, are not explicitly highlighted. To improve, focus on identifying the most significant trends and grouping data logically rather than listing individual fluctuations.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay lacks a logical structure. The introduction is informal ('let's analyse this'), and the paragraphing is ineffective, with several sentences clumped together in a way that hinders readability. Cohesive devices are largely absent or misused, making the progression of ideas feel disjointed. For example, the transition between the discussion of appliances and the discussion of housework hours is abrupt. To achieve a higher score, use clear topic sentences for each paragraph and employ a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'in contrast', 'furthermore') to guide the reader through the data.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. Phrases like 'made percentage' and 'made much progress' are unnatural and imprecise. There is a lack of variety in reporting verbs and nouns related to data trends. The student relies on basic descriptors, failing to use more sophisticated terms such as 'fluctuated', 'plummeted', 'gradual increase', or 'significant decline'. To improve, focus on learning collocations related to data interpretation and avoid repeating the same sentence structures. Expanding your range of synonyms for 'increase' and 'decrease' will help improve the precision of your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are issues with punctuation (e.g., '0,30 and 40 percent'), subject-verb agreement, and sentence construction. Many sentences are simple or poorly formed, such as 'In second chart we the number of hours'. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, which limits the range. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction, ensuring every sentence has a clear subject and verb, and work on using articles and prepositions correctly. Proofreading for basic punctuation and capitalization errors is also essential.
