Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to cover the main features of the charts, but the information is often inaccurate or confusing. For instance, the claim that the washing machine had the 'highest percentage' in 1920 is incorrect based on the provided data. The description of trends is vague, using phrases like 'suprisely highest figure' and 'calculation went low' without referencing specific data points or clear timeframes. The summary of the housework hours is also imprecise, failing to clearly contrast the decline in hours with the rise in appliance ownership. To improve, you must focus on accurately reporting the data and using precise terminology to describe trends, such as 'increased steadily' or 'reached a peak'.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical flow is weak. While you use transition words like 'Firstly' and 'Secondly', they do not effectively connect the ideas or guide the reader through the data. The referencing is often unclear; for example, 'the percentages was presented on chart' does not specify which data is being discussed. Additionally, the sentences are often disjointed, making it difficult to follow the comparison between appliance ownership and housework hours. Improving the use of cohesive devices and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus would significantly enhance the readability of your report.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive, with several errors in word choice and collocation. Phrases such as 'washing machine calculation went low' and 'time spention' are unnatural and impede clarity. You rely on basic descriptors like 'highest figure' and 'amazing changing' rather than using more precise academic vocabulary suitable for a data report. There are also frequent spelling errors, such as 'flunatied' (fluctuated) and 'refigator' (refrigerator). To achieve a higher band, you should work on using more varied and accurate vocabulary to describe trends and data, and ensure you check your spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that often affect the clarity of the message. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'The percentages was presented' and 'refrigerator shows attached'. Sentence structures are often simplistic or fragmented, and there is a lack of control over basic punctuation and tense usage. For example, 'I want to mentioned' should be 'I want to mention'. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring subject-verb agreement, and using consistent tenses when describing historical data. Practising the formation of complex sentences will also help you move beyond simple, error-prone structures.
