Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Percentage of households with electrical appliances (1920-2019)
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The line charts compare the relationship between time associated with housework in homes and percentages of three different electrical devices such as washing machine, Refrigerator and vacuum cleaner, owned by the families of a single country over a century from the year 1920 to 2019.
Overall, percentages of all electrical devices surged drastically over the period, which result in drop of working hours per week. Moreover, since recent few years refrigerator and vaccume cleaner have been used in almost all houses.
First of all, the percentage of refrigerator was 0% in 1920 and it climbed dramatically and reached to 100% in 1980 and reamain sticked to this number. Same trend can also be seen by vaccum cleaners. About 30% of families had their own vaccum cleaners in 1920, from 2000 to 2019 almost all housholds own this machine.
The proportion of owned washing machines also increased gardually despite some fluctuations form 1920 to 2019. It started at 40% in 1920, increased to just 70% in 1960 before droping slihtly over the next 20 years and again rose to just above 70% in 2019. Whereas, numbers of working hours dropped from 50 to just 10 from 1920 to 2019

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all parts of the task, identifying the main trends for appliance ownership and housework hours. You successfully highlighted the inverse relationship between the rise in appliances and the decline in housework time. However, the analysis is slightly uneven; while you provide specific data points for the refrigerator and vacuum cleaner, the description of the washing machine is less precise, and the comparison of housework hours is somewhat brief. To reach a higher band, ensure that all data points are clearly linked to the specific years mentioned in the charts and provide a more thorough comparison of the trends across the entire period.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. The progression of ideas is clear, moving from general trends to specific appliance data. You use some cohesive devices like 'Overall', 'First of all', and 'Whereas' to link ideas. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and the referencing could be smoother. For instance, the transition between the refrigerator and vacuum cleaner in the third paragraph is slightly abrupt. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear thematic focus will enhance the flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'surged drastically', 'fluctuations', and 'proportion'. However, there are several spelling errors ('vaccume', 'housholds', 'gardually', 'droping', 'slihtly') and some awkward phrasing such as 'remain sticked to'. These errors occasionally distract the reader, though they do not impede communication. To improve, focus on proofreading for common spelling mistakes and try to incorporate more precise collocations, such as 'remained constant' instead of 'remain sticked to', to demonstrate a more sophisticated control of language.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you successfully convey information, there are recurring grammatical errors, such as missing articles ('the percentage of refrigerator') and incorrect verb forms ('result in drop of'). Additionally, there are punctuation and tense inconsistencies. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the data, they occur frequently enough to limit the score. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles, and try to vary your sentence structure further by using more complex subordinate clauses to describe the trends.
