Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response covers all parts of the task, providing a clear overview and selecting key features from the data. You successfully identified the trends for appliance ownership and the inverse relationship with housework time. However, the overview is slightly inaccurate; for instance, you stated the washing machine 'fluctuated', but the data shows a generally upward trend with only a minor dip. Additionally, the description of the refrigerator ownership starting at 0% in 1920 is a good use of data. To improve, ensure your overview captures the most significant trends more precisely and avoid minor inaccuracies in data interpretation.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. You use cohesive devices such as 'In contrast', 'Regarding', and 'Turning to' to guide the reader through the data. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the appliances from the housework time. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing, such as 'it' in 'it was seen that as the year passed', which is a bit vague. Overall, the progression of ideas is clear and easy to follow throughout the report.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the information clearly, using terms like 'proportion', 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', and 'declined steadily'. There are some minor collocation errors, such as 'reached at 90%' (should be 'reached 90%') and 'recovering at 70%' (should be 'recovering to 70%'). While you use some less common vocabulary, the range is adequate rather than wide. To reach a higher band, focus on more precise collocations and avoid repetitive phrasing when describing trends.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'In 1920, the refrigerator was held by 0% of households, which increased to around 55% in 1940.' While many sentences are error-free, there are recurring grammatical slips, such as 'the refrigerator was held by 0% of households' (a bit unnatural) and 'time spent by households on house works, accounted for 50%' (a fragment). Punctuation is generally sound, but the sentence structure in the final paragraph is slightly disjointed. Increasing the variety of complex structures while maintaining accuracy would improve this score.
