Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response is significantly under the 150-word minimum requirement, which severely limits your ability to fully address the task. While you identify some trends, the analysis is incomplete and ends abruptly mid-sentence. You fail to provide a clear overview of the main features or make sufficient comparisons between the appliance ownership and the time spent on housework. To improve, you must ensure you cover all parts of the prompt, including a clear summary of the data, and provide enough detail to meet the length requirement. The current response is too brief to adequately report the main features of the charts.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response lacks a clear logical progression. While there is an attempt to group information, the abrupt ending and lack of a concluding summary make the overall structure disjointed. Cohesive devices are used in a very mechanical way, such as 'similarly' and 'while', but they do not effectively link the ideas into a cohesive narrative. Paragraphing is present but ineffective because the content is underdeveloped. To improve, focus on creating a clear introduction, a body paragraph that logically groups the data, and a summary that highlights the relationship between the two charts.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'increases', 'decreases', and 'rises' throughout the text. There are also errors in word formation and collocation, such as 'vacuum cleaners its ownership' and 'stadily' (spelling error). The range of vocabulary is insufficient to demonstrate the flexibility required for higher bands. To improve, try to incorporate more precise reporting verbs and nouns, such as 'fluctuated', 'peaked', 'a significant decline', or 'a steady upward trend', and ensure you check your spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains several grammatical errors that hinder clarity. For example, 'the amount of time spent on housework in the household in one country' is wordy and slightly awkward. There are issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'vacuum cleaners its ownership increase', and punctuation errors, such as the sentence fragment 'While the numbers of hours of housework per week per household decreases gradually.' The range of structures is limited to simple and compound sentences. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and ensure that every sentence is complete and grammatically sound.
