Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the task by identifying the main trends in appliance ownership and housework hours. However, the overview is weak; it lacks a clear summary of the overall trends, such as the inverse relationship between appliance ownership and housework time. The reporting of data is sometimes inaccurate or confusing, such as stating the vacuum cleaner reached 'the same as refrigerator' without specifying the percentage. Additionally, the description of the housework trend is slightly disjointed, failing to clearly contrast the rapid rise in technology with the steady decline in labor. To improve, ensure that the overview highlights the most significant trends rather than just describing individual data points.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical flow is hampered by poor sentence structure and limited use of cohesive devices. Transitions between ideas are often abrupt or missing, such as the transition between the two charts. The use of referencing is also unclear; for example, 'other chart' and 'in electrical appliances chart' are used in a way that disrupts the flow. While there is an attempt at paragraphing, the internal cohesion within paragraphs is mechanical and lacks the flexibility required for higher bands. Improving the use of linking words like 'consequently', 'in contrast', or 'furthermore' would help the reader follow the argument more effectively.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying on basic terms like 'good growth', 'start from', and 'reach at'. There are several instances of awkward word choice and incorrect collocations, such as 'amor in given time' and 'three element are there as such as'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to convey the data with precision. To reach a higher band, you should incorporate more varied and precise terminology related to trends, such as 'surged', 'plummeted', 'fluctuated', or 'a steady decline'. Focusing on accurate collocations and avoiding informal phrasing will significantly improve your score in this criterion.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('one of them show', 'three element are there'), missing articles ('in electrical appliances chart'), and incorrect preposition usage ('reach at 70'). The sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at complex sentences are often marred by errors, such as 'Vacuum cleaner is at 30 in 1920 which gradually goes up at reach as same as refrigerator.' To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, including correct verb tenses and article usage, before attempting more complex structures. Proofreading for basic errors is essential.
