Percentage of households with electrical appliances (1920-2019)
Student answer (Band 5.0)
The two line graphs illustrate how ownership of electrical appliances had changed and corresponding change that occured in the amount of time spent by individuals in their housework in a country from 1920 to 2019.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response is severely under-length, containing only 96 words compared to the required 150-word minimum. This significant shortfall means that the student has not been able to fully report on the main features or make all necessary comparisons, leaving the description incomplete as the text cuts off mid-sentence (Simil...). While the introduction and overview correctly identify the general trends in appliance ownership and housework hours, the lack of a complete body paragraph prevents higher task achievement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response is divided into logical paragraphs, beginning with a clear introduction and an overall summary. Cohesive devices such as 'In contrast' and 'which then grew' are used appropriately to link ideas together logically. However, because the text cuts off abruptly, the overall progression is incomplete. Despite this structural limitation, the sequencing up to that point is clear and easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary suitable for a Task 1 response, using terms like 'proportion', 'refrigerator ownership', and 'steeply'. There are attempts at less common phrasing such as 'rose consistently' and 'remained almost stable'. Word choices are generally appropriate, though there are minor inaccuracies such as 'in same period' (missing article) and a typo in 'Thenafter'. Spelling is mostly accurate aside from minor slips.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'The two line graphs illustrate how ownership...' and relative clauses like 'which then grew steeply'. Grammatical control is fairly good in the completed sentences, with correct verb tenses used to describe past trends. However, due to the short and unfinished nature of the text, the range of structures is ultimately limited, and there is a missing article in the second paragraph.
