The charts below show the changes in ownership of electrical appliances and amount of time spent doing housework in households in one country between 1920 and 2019.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The bar charts below tracks changes in the ownership of elctrical appliances and amount to time spent doing housework in households in one country between 1920 and 2019.

Overall, refrigerators and vacuum cleaners accelerated shaprly after 1920 reaching 100 percentage of households in 2019. Washing machines on the other hand, saw a steady upward trend before decreasing in 1980 before climbing again between 2000 and 2019. The number of hours spent on housework in household contract year on year, dropping to its lowest point in 2019.

Refrigerators started from 0% in 1920, recording a sharp increase till 1960 reaching 90% households. It reached its highest point in 1980, where every household had a refrigerator and then remained consistent. Vacuum cleaners started with 30% households and grew consistently till every household had a vacuum cleaner in 2000 and maintained plateau from 2000 to 2019. 40% households had washing machines in 1920 and increased to 70% in 1960 before recording a downward trend reaching 60% household only. It increased in 2000 amd 2019 but could only reach 71% of the households.

The number of hours spent on housework in household dip sharply between 1920 and 2019. In 1920, 50 hours per week were spent on housework and experienced a steep decrease till 1960 reaching 20 hours per week. After 1960, number of hours spent on housework gradually decreased further reaching its lowest in 2019, where only 10 hours were spent on housework per week.
