Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response attempts to address the task by mentioning the line graph and several categories, such as washing machines, vacuum cleaners, and refrigerators, along with the hours of housework. However, the overall reporting of main features and trends is severely confused, disjointed, and inaccurate. For instance, the student states that in 1920 the ratio for refrigerators was 'almost down' and then 'touch 100 percent', but confuses the timeline and data points across categories. The overview is weak and fails to effectively capture the overarching trends—such as the inverse relationship between the rise in appliance ownership and the decline in housework hours. Important comparative features are missing or misstated, and the data is not accurately reported. This performance aligns with Band 4.0 descriptors for Task Achievement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The essay lacks clear logical organisation and progression. The text is divided into rudimentary paragraph blocks, but the internal structure of sentences is very fragmented. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or inaccurately, such as abrupt shifts like 'In year 1920, there ratio is almost down and many year going...'. Referencing is frequently unclear, particularly with pronouns like 'they' and 'both categories value are link', making it difficult to follow which data set is being discussed. The overall arrangement fails to guide the reader smoothly through the information, reflecting Band 4.0 standards.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary used is very basic, repetitive, and frequently incorrect. Words and phrases such as 'vital information', 'create uping trend', 'there ratio', and 'straight make down trend' demonstrate a very limited control of lexical items and collocations. There is a frequent misuse of words (e.g., confusing 'ratio' and 'percentage', or 'link' for 'converge'). Word choice errors and awkward phrasing frequently strain the reader's comprehension. This level of lexical control matches the descriptors for Band 4.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

Grammatical control is weak throughout the response. The text contains a very limited range of structures, and attempts at complex sentences are heavily flawed and ungrammatical (e.g., 'the nember of hours of housework per week, per household in 1920 ther radio is 50 percent and when 40 years ago the straight make down trend'). Errors in subject-verb agreement, tense usage, and prepositional phrasing are pervasive and frequently distort the meaning. Punctuation is also sparse and faulty. This corresponds to a Band 4.0.
