Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
The response fails to reach the 150-word minimum, cutting off mid-sentence with only 116 words produced. Consequently, parts of the task are left incomplete. While the student attempts an overview and mentions some data points (e.g., noting that the refrigerator reached 100%), the information is presented in a very fragmented manner and stops abruptly. Data interpretation contains some inaccuracies, such as stating the refrigerator had 0% in 1920 when the chart shows roughly 2%. Because the response is under-length and incomplete, it falls into Band 4.0.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The essay is poorly organised and cut short. While there is an attempt at an introduction and an overview paragraph, the logical progression breaks down rapidly. Cohesive devices are either missing or misused, with repetitive structures and awkward transitions like 'Firstly, refrigerator 1920, had 0% atraction...'. Paragraphing is disrupted by the abrupt ending of the text. Overall, information and ideas are not arranged in a coherent manner, which aligns with Band 4.0 descriptors.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.0
The vocabulary used is very basic and repetitive. The student relies heavily on simple words and makes frequent spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'involement' instead of 'involvement', 'atraction' instead of 'attraction', and 'useage' instead of 'usage'. Collocations are unnatural (' refrigerator had no involement in start of 1920'). The range of vocabulary is limited and strained, fitting the Band 4.0 criteria where errors frequently occur and vocabulary is basic.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0
Grammatical control is weak throughout the short text. There is a complete lack of accurate complex sentences, and basic structures contain major errors, such as missing verbs ('refrigerator 1920, had 0% atraction by the households') and incorrect prepositions ('in start of 1920', 'in the end of 2019'). The text ends abruptly mid-sentence, leaving grammatical structures unfinished. These frequent errors and the lack of a variety of structures place the grammar at Band 4.0.
