Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response attempts to cover both charts, presenting an overview and some specific data points. However, the information is marred by several factual inaccuracies and confusion regarding the data series. For instance, the student states that the ownership of the refrigerator recorded the highest while the washing machine was the lowest, yet the line graph shows that refrigerators and vacuum cleaners both reached 100% by 2000, while washing machines finished at 75%. Furthermore, the data for individual appliances is mixed up and difficult to follow due to confusing referencing (e.g., mixing up washing machine and refrigerator statistics). While an overview is present, the lack of precision and inaccurate reporting of key features prevent this from reaching a higher band. It satisfies the basic requirements of summarising the charts, but more careful data extraction is needed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, which helps establish a basic structure. However, the logical progression is frequently disrupted by repetitive and abrupt cohesive devices such as 'after that' and 'moreover'. Paragraphing is not used effectively to separate distinct ideas or trends; for example, the details about different appliances are jumbled together within a single dense paragraph without clear grouping. Referencing is also faulty, making it hard to follow which data belongs to which appliance. Overall organisation is attempted, but the mechanical and repetitive use of cohesive ties, alongside poor progression, keeps this criterion at band 5.0.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The student attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'ownership', 'decreased slightly', and 'remained constant', but these are often used alongside incorrect or awkward phrasing, such as 'increased rocketly' or 'worked in week per hours'. There are noticeable spelling errors (e.g., 'demonstrate', 'perentage', 'grudually') and word choice inaccuracies throughout the text. The vocabulary is minimally adequate to convey basic trends, but the limitations in range and frequent lexical errors mean it does not fully meet the descriptors for band 6.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The essay displays a very limited range of grammatical structures. Simple sentences dominate, and attempts at complex or compound forms often result in severe structural errors and run-on sentences, such as 'after that it increased to about 100% in 2000 after that in 2000, 2019 the ownership remained unchanged.' Punctuation is frequently misused or omitted, and basic subject-verb agreement or preposition errors occur regularly (e.g., 'how to spent amount of time households. in doing housework'). Because complex structures are frequently faulty and errors cause some difficulty for the reader, this warrants a band 5.0.
