Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response covers all parts of the task by reporting the main features of appliance ownership and time spent on housework. An overview is provided, though it contains some inaccuracies regarding the trends (e.g., stating the refrigerator fluctuated, whereas it rose steadily to 100%). Key data points are selected and compared, such as the starting and ending figures for washing machines, refrigerators, and vacuum cleaners. However, some data citations contain minor errors or confusion, such as the starting hours for housework being reported as 50 in 1940 instead of 1920. Despite these minor flaws, the main trends—increasing appliance ownership alongside a decrease in housework hours—are successfully communicated.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response is organized into paragraphs with an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs detailing the data. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Overall', 'Scrutinizing deeper', and 'Digging deeper', though some transitional phrases feel mechanical or repetitive. The logical progression is generally maintained, but referencing becomes slightly confused in places, particularly in the third paragraph where the sentence structure breaks down ('while these scenerio is also seen... and refrigerator fluctuated throughout the period'). Paragraphing is attempted, but the overall structural flow could be smoother and more precise.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The student attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'delineated', 'conspicuously cognized', and 'sky-rocketed'. However, many of these attempts suffer from unnatural word choices, awkward collocations, or spelling errors (e.g., 'comphrehensively', 'cognized', 'refirigerators', 'exisitance', 'acheived', 'scenerio'). While the range of vocabulary is adequate to convey the basic meaning of the charts, the frequent lexical errors and inappropriate word formations restrict the score to this band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but grammatical accuracy is relatively low. There are numerous errors in subject-verb agreement and tense usage, such as 'number washing machine fluctuated' (missing preposition/article), 'Increasing number of apparatus... have decreased' (plural/singular mismatch), and 'which were 50 hours ain 1940' (typographical error and incorrect year mapping). Punctuation errors and run-on sentences also occur, which occasionally cause strain for the reader, although communication of the core data is generally preserved.
