Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response only partially addresses the task requirements due to a few significant limitations. Crucially, the length requirement is not met, as the text stops abruptly at 123 words, well short of the 150-word minimum. Regarding content, the overview attempts to highlight main features but is confusing and inaccurate in places, such as claiming that 'households in refrigerator and vacuum cleaner recorded the dominant factor' or that households 'consumed' appliances rather than owned them. While some data points from the start of the period are mentioned, the incomplete nature of the response and lack of a finished overview prevent a fuller development of the task.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The response shows some basic attempts at organisation, but there is no clear overall progression or successful paragraph structure. The essay breaks off mid-sentence, leaving ideas isolated and undeveloped. Cohesive devices are minimal and sometimes misused, such as the awkward transition 'Furthermore, the rate of households consumed refrigerator', which disrupts the logical flow. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the lack of a proper conclusion or fully formed body paragraphs means information and ideas are not arranged in a fully coherent manner.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and repetitive, reflecting a minimally adequate range for the task. There are noticeable lexical inaccuracies and odd collocations throughout the text, such as using 'consumed' instead of 'owned' when referring to household appliances (e.g., 'households consumed a washing machine'), and awkward phrasing like 'recorded the dominant factor'. Word formation errors are also present, such as 'started to declined' instead of 'declined'. These errors cause some difficulty for the reader and restrict the score to a lower level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer uses a very limited range of sentence structures, relying mostly on simple or attempting basic complex forms that frequently contain errors. There are frequent grammatical mistakes in verb tenses, voice, and prepositions, such as 'households who owned... and amount of time spent', 'the proportion of households in refrigerator', and the incomplete structure 'followed by number of hours of housework started to declined'. Punctuation and syntactic control are weak, and these frequent errors cause difficulty for the reader.
