Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response attempts to address the task by summarizing the main trends shown in the charts, such as the rise in appliance ownership and the decline in housework hours. However, the coverage is partial and lacks precise selection of data. For instance, the opening overview states that the refrigerator spiked to around 100% and mentions the washing machine and vacuum cleaner, but the details provided are limited and sometimes inaccurate, such as claiming the washing machine increased to 'approximatly 9%' in 2019. The ideas remain under-developed, with mechanical descriptions of individual years rather than a cohesive summary of overall trends and key comparisons. To reach a higher level, the writer needs to select more accurate data points and present a clearer, more fully supported overview of the main features.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay displays some organization, attempting to separate the introduction, body details, and conclusion into paragraphs, but there is no clear overall progression of ideas. The transitions between sentences feel abrupt and mechanical, relying on repetitive phrases like 'after gap of 20 year' or 'at the start it stand around'. Cohesive devices are used inadequately or inaccurately, and referencing is sometimes confusing, as seen in sentences like 'Vaccum cleaner also jump up to 100% While, the washing machine show lower spike'. Paragraphing is also somewhat haphazard, mixing general overview statements with specific data points. To improve, the writer should ensure a logical flow of information with clear, varied transitional markers and well-structured paragraphs that guide the reader smoothly through the comparisons.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and repetitive, with frequent reliance on basic words and phrases such as 'spike', 'jump up', and 'stand around'. There are noticeable errors in word choice, collocation, and word forms that sometimes cause difficulty for the reader, for example, writing 'the refrigerator spike at the highest point of percentage' instead of 'reached a peak', or using 'approximatly 9%' when describing a percentage near 75%. Spelling errors are also present, such as 'vaccum'. To achieve a higher score, the writer must expand their lexical range to include more precise, less common vocabulary related to data trends and ensure accurate collocations when describing statistical changes.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response utilizes a very limited range of sentence structures, consisting mostly of simple sentences and faulty attempts at complex forms. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including missing verbs or prepositions (e.g., 'the refrigerator at its lower point', 'housework at homes in country'), incorrect verb tenses and forms (e.g., 'The chart demonstrate', 'the washing machine in year 1920 they are stand'), and punctuation errors. These persistent errors often strain the reader and cause confusion. To progress, the writer needs to demonstrate a greater variety of complex grammatical structures while improving basic accuracy in subject-verb agreement, tense consistency, and article usage.
