Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

The response addresses the task only partially, presenting a very limited and confused summary of the charts. While the student attempts to report some data points, such as the 1920 washing machine figure at 40% and the refrigerator reaching 100%, key trends are poorly communicated and lack clarity. The overview provided in the second paragraph is extremely confused and fails to accurately capture the main overall developments, such as the general increase in appliance ownership alongside a substantial drop in weekly housework hours. Ideas remain underdeveloped and information is often inaccurate or misinterpreted from the visual data, restricting the quality of the overall response.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response lacks a clear overall progression and logical organisation. Information and ideas are not arranged coherently, making it difficult for the reader to follow the trends across the century. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal structure of the paragraphs is weak, consisting of fragmented sentences and disjointed observations rather than well-sequenced comparisons. Cohesive devices are either missing or misused, with repetitive transitional phrases like 'and then' dominating the text and creating a mechanical and disjointed flow throughout the writing.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is basic, repetitive, and heavily reliant on language lifted directly from the prompt. The student makes frequent word choice and word formation errors, such as 'consume electrical appliances', 'Refigerator', and 'sendind time', which strain the reader's understanding. There is a lack of control over appropriate terminology for describing data trends, resulting in awkward phrases like 'down slightly and then stopped in 2019 60%'. The range of vocabulary is severely limited and inadequate for a precise discussion of statistical charts.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The grammatical range is very limited, relying primarily on simple and faulty sentence forms. There are frequent, persistent errors in verb tenses, subject-verb agreement, prepositions, and sentence structures, such as 'how many amount of time spent doimg housework' and 'It strart from 50% and then it dropped in 1960 20%'. Complex sentence structures are attempted but are consistently grammatically flawed. These errors frequently impede communication and cause significant difficulty for the reader in discerning the intended meaning of the sentences.
