Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response successfully addresses all parts of the task by reporting the main trends and making relevant comparisons between appliance ownership and housework hours. The overview captures the general patterns well, noting the upward trend in appliances and the downward trend in housework time. However, some ideas are under-developed or contain inaccuracies; for instance, the claim that 'no one possessed refrigerator' in 1920 is slightly imprecise compared to the chart, and details regarding specific fluctuations could be more fully extended to reach a higher level.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The report presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. Information is logically grouped, separating appliance ownership from the time spent on housework. However, cohesion is at times somewhat mechanical and referencing can be unclear, such as the ambiguous pronoun use in 'spent on them'. Paragraphing is used, but the transitions between sentences could flow more smoothly to ensure a better logical progression throughout the text.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The writer uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'dramatic rise' and 'fluctuation'. However, there are notable word choice, word form, and spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'refregerator' for refrigerator, 'percentages of different electrical gadgets possession', and awkward phrasing like 'time spent on them'. These lexical inaccuracies and occasional spelling slips do not impede overall communication, but they restrict the score to the current level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
A mix of simple and complex sentence forms is attempted, such as 'The line charts give information about...'. There are several grammatical errors regarding articles ('over time period', 'in final year'), prepositions ('spent on them in a week'), and subject-verb agreement or tense consistency ('it show steady decrease', 'Time spent... is more about fifty hours'). Nevertheless, these errors are limited in frequency and rarely impede communication, allowing the reader to follow the intended data points without significant difficulty.
