Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response attempts to address all parts of the visual data by mentioning the appliances and the hours of housework, but the coverage is partial and lacks proper development. For instance, the opening misinterprets the 1920 data for refrigerators, stating that '0% people were using the refrigerator' when the chart shows 2%. Furthermore, key trends are expressed with inaccurate generalisations, such as claiming that 'washing machine was stucked between 60 to 70 till 2019' while ignoring its rise to 75%. The selection of data points is mechanical, and the absence of a clear, synthesised overview means the response only partially satisfies the requirements of the prompt, placing it at this level.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The text demonstrates a basic overall arrangement, dividing the information into two logical paragraphs corresponding to the two visual elements. However, there is a lack of clear overall progression and sophisticated cohesive devices. Transitions between sentences are frequently abrupt or repetitive, relying heavily on chronological markers like 'In the first graph', 'As time passes', and 'In second graph'. Paragraphing is minimally adequate, but internal cohesion is sometimes faulty due to confusing referencing and run-on sentences, such as combining multiple distinct trends into single, unpunctuated clauses like 'After the 1940 refrigerator demand increaded as compared to other and reached 90% by 1960 but the other was on 60%.'

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and repetitive, though it is minimally adequate to convey the basic topic of household appliances and housework hours. There are numerous word choice, spelling, and word formation errors throughout the text that cause noticeable strain for the reader, such as 'weak' instead of 'week', 'vacum' instead of 'vacuum', and 'stucked' instead of 'stuck'. Less common lexical items are rarely attempted, and when the student tries to use descriptive verbs or nouns, inaccuracies in collocation and form impede smooth communication, such as referring to appliances as 'the other' or 'the two appliances demand'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The grammar is characterised by a very limited range of sentence structures, relying mostly on simple clauses joined by coordinating conjunctions. Attempts at complex or multi-clause sentences are frequently faulty, leading to frequent errors in tense usage, article omission, and subject-verb agreement. Examples of grammatical lapses include '0% people were using', 'the demand of refrigerator is incresed rapidly', 'the all 3 appliances pecentage is between', and 'the hours of housework by 1920 was 50 and linearly started decreasing'. Punctuation is also weak, with run-on sentences lacking necessary commas or periods, which causes regular difficulty for the reader.
