Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

The response only partially addresses the task requirements. While the writer attempts to describe the charts showing electrical appliance ownership and housework hours, there are severe misinterpretations of the visual data. For example, the student claims the refrigerator recorded zero use in the last year, whereas the graph clearly shows it at one hundred percent, and mistakes the vacuum cleaner for a vacuum flask. Furthermore, the overview is confused and inaccurate, failing to present a clear picture of the overall trends. To move up, the writer must ensure that information is reported accurately from the visual data and that main features are correctly identified without major factual errors.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

There is some organisation attempted with paragraph breaks separating the introduction, an overview, and body details, but there is no clear overall progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or inaccurately, such as the mechanical and confusing transition 'This increase was followed by vaccum cleaner tool'. Referencing between sentences is frequently unclear, leaving the reader struggling to follow which appliance is being discussed. Paragraphing is also rudimentary and fails to group related information logically. Improving cohesion requires clearer referencing, more logical sequencing of data points, and the natural use of cohesive devices to link sentences and paragraphs smoothly.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and contains numerous noticeable errors in word choice, word form, and spelling that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. Examples of inaccurate terms include 'demostic appliances', 'home work', 'house used equipment', and 'washine machine'. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, but these attempts are marred by poor collocation and misspelling, such as 'considerably increase' instead of considerable increase, and 'vaccum cleaner'. To achieve a higher band, the student needs to expand their range of vocabulary, ensure correct word forms and spellings, and use terms that accurately reflect statistical data.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The text displays a very limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on simple constructions, and attempts at more complex sentences are frequently faulty. There are frequent errors in grammar, including subject-verb agreement issues ('families that ownes', 'refrigerator was the popular used'), incorrect prepositions ('from 1920 and 2019'), and missing articles. These errors can cause confusion for the reader. To improve, the writer must work on basic grammatical accuracy, particularly verb forms, prepositions, and article usage, while gradually incorporating a wider variety of accurate complex sentence patterns.
